A huge thank you to Damien VK7SD and Allen VK7KAN for their wonderful interactive tour of the ABC studio and technical areas on Wednesday 12 March 2025.

There was a group of 27 REAST Members who came along and toured all the facilities starting with the Radio Studios with the groups splitting into two and hearing all about the high-tech digital studios and the role of the presenters and producers. We where even treated to the Producer of the Night Radio programming letting us know all about his role.

We then shifted to the Music Producing suite where musicians can be recorded and play live into the radio studios.

Next was the TV interviewing suite which are used for TV crosses to journalist, special guests or dignitaries.

We then went into the Newsroom where all the Journalist, Graphics Specialist, Social Media Specialists and News Gathers live during the day.

We then ventured into the TV News Studio control room and Damien and Allen took us through some the nights news programming and all the content integration, queueing, graphics and sound is controlled from.

Into the main TV and Weather presenting studio where Damien demonstrated the huge LED weather screen, cameras, lighting and autocues.

Out to the garage where the very impressive satellite OB or Outside Broadcast truck is housed and then into the Radio and TV Master Control Room and Technical Services.

Damien and Allen outlined that they are involved and huge number of projects including the creation of replacement electronics that is used all over Australia throughout the ABC.
